China's Tourism Industry Shows Robust Growth
News from the China National Tourism Symposium held in Wuhan says that the overall tourism industry of China kept its momentum in the first six months of the year.
China's inbound travel increased. From January to June, China received 23.5 million inbound tourists, which was an increase of 4.36% compared with the same period of last year, and foreign exchange from the tourism industry reached US$14.68 billion, increasing by 4.1% over the same period of the previous year.
Domestic travel was also on the upswing. During the Spring Festival week, China received 78.32 million tourists in total and earned a total of RMB36.8 billion income. During the May Day holiday, its tourist reception reached 146 million and total travel income hit RMB58.5 billion.
In addition, China's outbound travel was also growing rapidly. In the six months, about 16.58 million Chinese went abroad, which is 7.5% more than the same period of last year.
