The Hong Kong Tourism Board has announced a new cooperation with the Beijing Tourism Administration to jointly promote sightseeing trips to Hong Kong.

The trips will cover all major scenic spots as well as unique dining destinations in Hong Kong. In particular, it emphasizes "free shopping", which means tourists will not be obliged to do any unwanted shopping. One of the biggest complaints of mainland tourists visiting Hong Kong on group tours is that they are often pressured into visiting shops and purchasing goods.

The trip will be promoted through five travel agencies: China International Travel Service Head Office, China Travel Service, China Youth Travel Service, China Comfort Travel Service and Hong Kong China Travel Service.

HKTB says they will first test these trips in Beijing and gradually launch it in other regions in the mainland.
