Statistics from Jones Lang LaSalle shows that the average daily room rate of 4 and 5 star hotels in Beijing had increased by 8%, and reached RMB896 by the end of this October.

Jones Lang LaSalle says this increase is the result of an increase of inbound tourists. In the first 11 months of 2006, the inbound tourists that Beijing received was more than the tourists in the entire year 2005. With the coming of the 2008 Olympic Games, there will be more hotels opened in the next eighteen months and Jones Lang LaSalle estimates that there will be at least 8,707 rooms to be added in 2007 and 2008.

For the Beijing hotel market after the Olympic Games, Jones Lang LaSalle says that the large economic base in Beijing will offer more potential for business and leisure demands in the next 10 years.

Investors in the Beijing hotel industry have already adjusted their strategy to adapt to the market development, and more investors are constructing new hotels or investing and cooperating with local hotel companies. International brands like Best Western, Holiday Inn, and Marriott are just some of the many hotels planning openings in the capital city in the coming months.
