Mexico Tourism Board has told local media that they will spend more than US$3 million to promote their tourism resources in China.

Francisco Xavier Lopez Mena, director of MTB, says that Mexico attracted 12000 tourists from China in 2006, which was an increase of 15% compared with that of the previous year, with each Chinese tourist spending about US$700 during their stay in the country. He said that in the first quarter of this year, Chinese tourists to Mexico increased by 26% compared with the same period of last year.

MTB will make a more detailed and attractive promotion plan to attract more Chinese tourists to visit their country.
Statistics from the Mexico Tourism Department show that Mexico received about 22.6 million foreign tourists in 2006 and it will become one of the fastest tourism growing countries in the world by 2013.
