The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China has begun to formally accept temporary flight applications for foreign airlines for the period of the 2008 Olympic Games and the Paralympics.

The period for temporary flights starts from 00:01 on July 1, 2008 and ends at 23:59 on September 30, 2008. The schedule for aircraft take off and landing starts from 23:00 to 07:00 the following day.

CAAC has also set up a guide for application and approval for foreign airlines applications for temporary flight plans such as special planes, VIP flights, additional flights, charter flights, and business flights to China related to the Olympics and the Paralympics.

According to this regulation, temporary plans for flights to Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai Pudong, Shenyang, and Qinhuangdao which will host Olympics matches must apply for CAAC approval of take-off and landing schedules at the destination airport in advance and then submit an application for landing permission and traffic rights.
