Hainan To Build International Business Airport At Boao
The Hainan Provincial Development and Reform Department has announced that Hainan plans to commence pre-phase preparation of a civil airport at Boao. This will be positioned as an international business airport with an annual passenger flow of 100,000.
Li Lifeng, deputy chief of Department of Transportation Resources of Hainan Provincial Development and Reform Department said that Hainan has been given approval to build three new civil airports at Qionghai, Wuzhishan, and Dongfang and to start construction of Boao's civil airport.
The civil airport at Boao will be built in phases with a total investment of about RMB1.15 billion. It will include a parking area at E level, another parking area at B level and a 3,600-meter runway.
With the influence of Boao Forum For Asia, Boao as a town located in Qionghai city has become well known around the world. It is reported that although approximately 100 high-end international conferences are held at Boao every year tourists can only travel to Boao via Meilan Airport. The Boao international business airport will provide more convenient access for domestic and overseas travelers and enhance local economic development.
