Shanghai's 1933 plans to launch later this spring as the newest events venue in town.

A total of 32,500 square meters of indoor and outdoor areas across four factory buildings can cater to all manner of creative specifications. A 1,535 square meters 'theatre-in-the-round' occupies the top three levels of the main building featuring an expansive glass stage under a steel dome. This large, theatrical space has been fitted with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems and is serviced by a 3.5-ton industrial lift capable of ferrying a car, making it ideal for events requiring dramatic visual impact, such as fashion shows and product launches.

As well as hosting Shanghai's top parties, 1933's management team will also be running a series of programs and activities throughout the building's spaces. These events will revolve around 1933's core concepts of design, lifestyle and learning and are intended to become a magnet and incubator for creative people in Shanghai and China.

1933 is part of a 1.2 square kilometer urban development plan by the Hongkou District Government to revitalize the historic district. Hongkou's heritage as a cultural and intellectual epicenter, home to writers and revolutionaries such as Lu Xun and Qu Qiubai as well as expatriates and Jewish refugees, will be resurrected as the area becomes a vibrant, creative neighbourhood for the 21st century. 1933 is located near the major thoroughfares of Sichuan Beilu and Haining Lu, directly adjacent to the North Bund.
