The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China have jointly issued the Chinese Citizen Outbound Travel Emergency Warning Act.

This Act creates an emergency pre-warning mechanism for outbound travel services. The new mechanism consists of information collection, emergency pre-warning evaluation and information release. It will assist Chinese travelers to understand which areas of the world have trouble.

In the past week China has issued separate travel warnings for Chinese tourists in the Solomon Islands and Nepal.

The Act defines the emergency that Chinese citizens encounter abroad into four different levels according to the place, character, scale and influence of the accident. It suggests Chinese citizens resort to local police, the Chinese embassy or concerned departments for help in case of emergency in a foreign country.

In order to better protect traveling consumers, Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration (BTA) has issued a circular requiring all travel agencies not to change their pre-set travel routes for the upcoming May Golden Week Holiday.
