Marco Polo Shifts Talent To New China Hotel Positions

Marco Polo HotelsTo drive its expansion program announced earlier this year, Marco Polo Hotels is shifting its general managers around in China.

Henk MeyknechtEffective March 2007, Henk Meyknecht will take the reins at the Marco Polo Wuhan, China as general manager. The hotel is scheduled to open in December and Meyknecht was previously general manager of the Marco Polo Shenzhen. He joined Marco Polo Hotels in 2002 as General Manager of the Omni Saigon Hotel, Vietnam. Meyknecht's career spans over a period of 20 years. He has worked for SAS, Hilton International, Peninsula Hotels and the InterContinental Hotel Group in Europe, United States and Asia. He is a graduate of the Hotel School of Maastricht in the Netherlands and has completed the Cornell University marketing program.

James McStay OngTaking over in Shenzhen as general manager is James McStay Ong, who moves over from the Omni Saigon Hotel, Vietnam. Ong has worked with some of the most famous hotels in the world including the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco, Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and the Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii. He has also worked at luxury hotels in the cities of Jakarta, Hong Kong, Honolulu, Wuhan and Cebu. A graduate of the University of the Philippines, Ong has also completed the Advanced Management Course of the University of Hong Kong.
