Accor has signed a management contract for for the Novotel Taoyuan International Airport Taipei.

The hotel is being built by CAL Hotel Company, and is scheduled to open in late 2009. The 360-room Novotel will be the closest hotel to the airport and will be adjacent to China Airline's new headquarters and training center. The airport area is less than 30 minutes drive from Hsinchu's 'Silicon Valley' and only 35 km from the Taipei city center.

During 2005 Taipei Taoyuan international Airport handled over 21.7 million passengers, of which 19.2 million were international arrivals or departures. There were over 152,000 aircraft moments on its two parallel runways.

Accor Asia Pacific's Managing Director Michael Issenberg said that the Novotel will add to the airport's tourism infrastructure.

"Novotel Taoyuan International Airport Taipei will be a stylish addition to a well established airport for visiting business, leisure or transit passengers," Issenberg said.

The Novotel will feature many of the latest brand interior and exterior design elements, especially on its executive floors. The Taipei hotel will join an extensive network of over 65 Accor airport hotels in 20 countries, including 20 under the Novotel brand. These include hotels at some of the world's busiest airports in cities such as Paris, London, Frankfurt, Chicago and Sydney. The management contract for the Novotel follows the opening of three other Novotels at prime airport destinations around Asia over the past year: Hong Kong, Bangkok and Guangzhou. Accor has also signed a management agreement to operate a Novotel at Hyderabad's new international airport.
