News from the Shanxi Provincial Commerce Department is that eight hotels from the province have been upgraded to national special class hotels and national first class hotels.

The eight hotels are Taiyuan Jinyun Lou Hotel, Taiyuan Jiangnan Hotel, Taiyuan Haiwai Haibei Hotel, Changzhi High-tech Zone Yangguang Hotel, Changzhi Caiyuan Hotel, Jicheng Lihua Tianyuan Hotel, Jincheng Yangguang Hotel and Changzhi Qinghua Hotel. The first seven of them have been accredited as national special class hotels and the last one is a national first class hotel.

China has divided hotels into five classes of Five-diamond (national special class), Four-diamond (national first class), Three-diamond (national second class), Two-diamond (national third class) and One-diamond (national fourth class). This is the first time that the hotel grade evaluation practice has been adopted in Shanxi Province.

Li Shaoyu, director of the Commerce and Reform Division of Shanxi Provincial Commerce Department, says that these hotels should provide applicable services after they are upgraded and their status will be revoked if they fail to provide corresponding high-level services.
