CAAC Will Support Baiyun To Acquire International Aviation Rights

Local media report that Yang Guoqing, deputy director of Civil Aviation Administration of China, expressed in Guangzhou that CAAC will support Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to gain more international aviation rights.

CAAC will actively promote foreign airlines to run flights, and particularly encourage them and domestic airlines to add more middle-haul and long-haul international fights starting from Guangzhou. Yang says that CAAC will offer support to Baiyun Airport in airport operations, international lines development and budget airlines' entry and build it into an international aviation hub.

Yang disclosed that the third and fourth service rights will be added between Guangzhou and foreign cities soon and a limited fifth service right will also be added then.

CAAC's new decision for supporting Guangzhou Baiyun Airport has been widely embraced by airlines both home and abroad, including China Southern and Shenzhen Airlines. Though Guangzhou Baiyun Airport has been ranked among the three largest aviation hubs in China along with Beijing's Capital International Airport and Shanghai's airport, it has been lagging behind in international flights. As a result, passengers often need to transfer from Beijing or Shanghai when they need to go abroad.
