China Southern Opens New Aviation Company In Chongqing

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has received an application from China Southern and Chongqing Development and Investment Company who together plan to invest RMB1.2 billion to form a new airline company in Chongqing to offer domestic aviation services.
The new company is called Chongqing Airlines and it will be put into operation as early as mid-April if it successfully wins the approval of CAAC. The new company will be based at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and engaged in domestic aviation service. China Southern will provide three A320 planes, pilot and air stewards for the company.
China Southern will also invest RMB720 million, accounting for 60% of the total stake.
At present, China Southern runs several fixed flights in Chongqing and runs the most flights in Chongqing.
