Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is targeting the lucrative meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions market with its "Signature Events", a comprehensive set of business initiatives.

Meeting organizers can take advantage of additional services and benefits tailored to their needs, from initial inquiry to event follow-up. As part of a thorough revamping of internal systems and procedures, Signature Event standards include simplified proposals and contracts. Shangri-La pledges to produce written proposals within 24 hours of request.

Newly appointed events experts in hotel front office, finance and banqueting departments support event managers in providing full-circle service to meeting planners. Dedicated AV technicians and meeting attendants are assigned to each meeting whilst in process. Meeting planners with lead times of up to three months for groups of 10 or more rooms, plus flexible dates and destination preferences, can now secure savings up to 50 percent through the "Super Value Dates" link on the company's website.

Meeting attendees can also book their rooms directly online via a dedicated web booking engine and designated group code, eliminating the need for organisers to handle reservations and rooming lists.

An enhanced Shangri-La meeting package for groups of 50 or more guestrooms includes a generous array of value-added benefits, from themed coffee breaks in a choice of venues, to complimentary benefits for meeting organizers, such as airport transfers, in-room facsimile, room upgrade, local mobile phone, and more.

Signature Events is the result of an in-depth research project involving meeting planner focus groups and task forces made up of senior events managers and Shangri-La corporate executives from marketing, food and beverage, rooms and finance divisions.

"Although Shangri-La is already a leading event provider, Signature Events 'raises the bar', providing wide-ranging and well-executed services tailored specifically to meeting planner needs," says Martin F. Waechter, Shangri-La's chief marketing officer. "Signature Events ensures that we deliver Shangri-La's renowned hospitality and attention to detail."

With over 130,000 square meters total meeting space in 50 properties, Shangri-La says it offers more meeting capacity than any other Asia Pacific luxury hotel group, featuring pillarless, high-ceilinged ballrooms up to 2,240 square meters in key city locations.
