Guangxi Will Regulate Hotel Advertising

China's Guangxi Hotel Star-grade Qualification Assessment Commission will soon release a new regulation to ban hotels and travel agencies from using such ambiguous wording as "will soon be star-grade" or "decorated according to star-grade standards" in advertisements.
The regulation will not only help avoid consumer confusion but also strengthen the management of the hotels' outsourcing departments. Those departments will be encouraged to only do business with legitimate management companies that adhere to standards.
For hotels that claim to be high star grade hotels, non-star-grade hotels that use star-grade hotel signs or signs that look similar to those of the star-grade hotels for the purpose of deceptive promotions, the Guangxi Hotel Star-grade Qualification Assessment Commission will give seek to remove their business licenses or issue fines.
For hotels that do have correct star ratings, they will be encouraged to place their certificates attesting to their quality in prominent positions in the hotels.
