David Baldwin has been appointed resident manager of the Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong Shanghai.
Baldwin brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry in the United States, Philippines, Mexico and China. His operational experience has been well balanced, with many years in rooms and food and beverage in international hotels, ranging from intimate boutiques to large scale hotels in major world cities and remote resort destinations.
Since 1986, Baldwin has worked with international firms such as Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental Hotels, and several leading boutique and independent luxury hotels, several of which are members of Small Luxury Hotels and Leading Hotels of the World. Prior to joining Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental, Baldwin worked as executive assistant manager of the 1525 room Xianglu Grand Hotel in Xiamen, Fujian Province. There he took part in the successful launch and operation of the largest hotel in China.
Originally from the United States, Baldwin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has also participated in culinary programs at Ecole Hoteliere, Lausanne, Switzerland.
