Ilja Poepper is the new resident manager at the hotel. A native German with fluent English and Mandarin, Poepper will oversee the sales and marketing, food and beverage and other revenue-generating departments. The Intercontinental Chongquin is indeed fortunate to be led by a team headed by Carlo Schmed, a man of exquisite charm, talent and experience. I was the beneficiary of those attributes many years ago when he ran the Jianguo Hotel in Beijing. He made my wife's and my stay there very special which has yet to be matched by any other hotel of my experience.
