Yantai Nanshan Property Development Company has signed with InterContinental Hotels Group to bring the Crowne Plaza brand to Yantai in Shandong Province.
According to their agreement, InterContinental will manage Nanshan Crowne Plaza Hotel, which is one of the first luxury five star hotels in Yantai. The hotel is invested in by Nanshan Group and it is expected to be formally opened in the second half of 2008.
Yantai is currently the second largest industrial city in Shandong, next only to Qingdao. Two sub-county special economic zones also exist in the city: the Yantai Economy and Technology Development Area created in 1984 in northern Fushan District and the Yantai Export Processing Area, formed in 2000 in north Zhifu District.
Because of its fair weather and extensive coasts Yantai is a popular Chinese summer vacation spot.

I just tried to buy coffee beans in Yantai this weekend. I checked the 3 usual places and came home empty handed. As for international cuisine, I've given up trying to find it here (except for Jackies) since it always falls short of the expectation. I hope the Yantai Crowne Plaza is as good as the one in Qing Dao. You can count on have some appreciative foreigners waiting outside the door. Welcome to Yantai!
