Air China has selected Rockwell Collins to provide its MultiScan Hazard Detection System along with a broad range of avionics for 25 Boeing 737NG and 24 Airbus A320/A321 aircraft.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the Fall of 2007.

"This selection reinforces our strong relationship with Air China and we are proud to continue to be their avionics supplier on this new Airbus and Boeing fleet," said Jeff Standerski, vice president and general manager of Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins. "As an existing MultiScan customer, Air China has enjoyed the benefits of our advanced hazard detection system that continues to be a differentiator when it comes to enabling safer, smoother and more efficient flights."

Rockwell Collins' award-winning WXR-2100 is the first and only radar that analyzes and determines actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content. MultiScan is a fully automatic, hands-free airborne radar system with more than four years of operational experience that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by minimizing unexpected turbulence encounters, and provides optimal clutter-free weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.

Air China also selected the Rockwell Collins GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver, an integrated unit that provides the aircraft's primary position, velocity and time reference and enables precision landing capability. The advanced MMR also offers instrument landing system capability and high-integrity, satellite-based positioning for navigation and future landing functions. The system is designed to meet future air traffic management requirements while offering commonality across fleet types.
