Shanxi Province Has Hospitality Talent Shortage

With the approaching of travel mid-season in China, the demand for quality hospitality professionals has been on the increase.
The latest statistics from Shanxi Province's job market shows that the province's demand for hospitality talent has been rising dramatically since the beginning of May and the need has increased by about 14.7% compared with the same period of last year. There are two categories of hospitality talent shortage in Shanxi. One is for service staff like waiters and receptionists and the other is for top managers who are needed to have more than three years experience and be proficient in at least one foreign language.
According to local media reports of a recent poll in the province, 59% of human resource specialists believe that being enterprising and having a sense of responsibility are the two prerequisites for a good hotel manager. 20% of them believe that a good hotel manager must be hard working. 12% of them believe that a hotel manager must have relevant working experience and only 3% of them believe that educational background is important for hotel managers.
In addition, each hotel has different requirements for hotel managers. 48% of the hotels require the manager must be a good team worker; 36% of hotels ask them to have pioneering spirit and good communication skills; 16% of hotels believe that the most important quality of a hotel manager is diligence. As many as 89% of the hotels think credibility is the most important quality that a hotel manager should possess.
