A new survey conducted by Chinese web portal Sina.com shows Chinese netizens still believe acquiring visas to travel overseas is fraught with problems.
2,098 people took part in the survey, and only 15.78% of them thought it was easy to go through a visa application process and 29.3% of them found they were faced with excessive difficulties. When it comes to possible reasons for the difficulties, 60.29% of them think it is because many Chinese stay abroad beyond their allotted time limit, and 20.53% think it is the result of discrimination by Western countries.
According to the American Embassy in China, the four consulates in China received 188,422 applications in the first five months of 2007 and 157,355 of them were approved.
There are currently dozens of nations around the world that have Approved Destination Status for Chinese visitors. This allows Chinese citizens easier access and procedures when visiting those countries.

All Chinese should fear the US Government visa process. Whether in Hong Kong, Beijing, or Shanghai the government people doing interviews for embassy are rude and don't follow the law. A few years ago, the man in charge of visa in US Embassy in Beijing was fired when he took bribes so I don't trust them and they have big problems.
