Guangdong has just released the Travel Agency Quality Assessment Standard and Shenzhen has now begun to implement those measures.
Shenzhen government will assess the city's travel agencies according to the standard and plans to publish the first batch of star-grade travel agencies in September. At present, there are more than 180 travel agencies in Shenzhen.
Star-grade travel agencies are those that have an independent legal person qualification. They will be assessed according to their basic condition, operational performance, business condition, service items, management mechanisms, financial management, marketing management, business credit and social reputation. The more stars they receive, the higher class they are.
Meanwhile, just like Hainan, Shenzhen has initiated a campaign against zero-fee tour packages. These are travel packages offering no upfront payments from travelers, but tourists often have to spend large amonts of money at restaurants, souvenier stalls, and other places where travel agencies recoup their earnings.
