The Liaoning Provincial government has issued a draft opinion on further speeding up the tourism development of the province to create a tourism powerhouse in China.
In order to realize this goal, the three major tourism areas of Middle Liaoning, Liaodong Peninsula and Liaoxi Corridor, which are respectively represented by Shenyang, Dalian and Jinzhou, will be constructed to make Liaoning a main tourist destination in China and a hot spot for travel in the Northeast Asia region.
In addition, Liaoning will strive to develop a "Five-Color Travel Plan". This incorporates Red Travel that will feature Chinese revolutionary sites like The September 18th History Museum and War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea Memorial Hall in Dandong. Green Travel will focus on forests, marshlands and water areas. Blue Travel is based on sea-related travel. Golden Travel is based on sites surrounding the Qing Dynasty culture. Finally, Silver travel relies on ice, snow and hotsprings.
In the coming three years, Shenyang, Dalian, Changchun, Harbin and Anshan will unite to strengthen their union with Qinghuangdao and Chifeng to create a barrier-free tourism region in the three Northeastern Provinces of Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia. By 2010, the tourist reception of the province is expected to reach 2.8 million and the tourism foreign exchange income US$1.85 billion.
