According to Xinhua, Chongqing has signed 57 tourism projects in the first half of this year and attracted a total of RMB22.7 billion in investment.

Chongqing has attracted the investment for its tourism development in two ways. One is through travel festivals and meetings and the other is by tourism resource integration among state-owned tourism corporations.

Local media reports that Chongqing signed RMB5.47 billion tourism deal at the Ecological Travel Annual Promotion Meeting held in March, RMB4.36 billion deal at the 11th China Chongqing Investment Fair held in April and RMB12.87 billion in deals at the 12th China Chongqing Three Gorges International Travel Festival held in June.

A representative from Chongqing Municipal Tourism Bureau says that with the successful signings, the core competitiveness of Chongqing's tourism industry will be reinforced and the economic development further enhanced.
