Germany-based Hannover Fairs announced that it would cooperate with Guangdong Provincial Tourism Department and Guangzhou Municipal Tourism Bureau to formally host the Guangzhou International Travel Fair, which is held in Guangzhou in the spring of each year.

According to the agreement, Hannover Fairs China Ltd, Hannover Fairs' wholly-owned company in China, will work with its parent company to host the Guangzhou fair from 2008 to 2017.

Zhu Li, director of the Guangzhou Municipal Tourism Bureau, said that Hannover has rich experience in holding exhibitions and a extensive sales network in the world, so its participation in the Guangzhou International Travel Fair will help create it into one of the largest and highest class exhibitions in South China as well as one of the most influential exhibition brands in Chinese domestic tourism industry.

Hannover has been in China for up to 20 years and it set up an office in Guangzhou two years ago. Fu Yu, general manager of Hannover Fairs China Ltd, said that as one of the earliest and longest running travel exhibition in China, GITF is an ideal option for Hannover to expand South China market. Set up in 1947 in Germany, Hannover is one of the world's leading exhibition companies with the largest exhibition and biggest exhibition venues.

GITF was established in 1995 and has become one of the most comprehensive travel fairs in China and one of the most important annual travel meetings in the Asia Pacific region. GITF 2007 attracted more than 600 exhibitors with 40% of them were from overseas countries. GITF 2008 will be held at Guangzhou Jinhan Exhibition Center on April 4-6, 2008.
