The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong will implement a new rule from this month on in order to alleviate problems of fraud within the travel industry.
According to the new rule printed in local media, the reception travel agencies of Hong Kong must sign a "Group Confirmation Letter" with travel agencies from mainland China for each tour group and submit a copy of the letter to the Travel Industry Council. The travel agency must also report the trip of the tour group to Travel Industry Council before the arrival of the tour groups.
Liang Yaolin, chairman of the Inbound Travel Reception Association of Hong Kong says that though the new measure will increase the work load and cost of the reception travel agencies, it is good to the ethos of the whole industry and offers more guarantees to the tourists.
From the beginning of the summer holiday until now, the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong has reportedly not received any complaints from inbound travel groups.
