Macau Travel Recognition 2007, a special program jointly launched by Macau Government Tourist Office and the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau, has kicked off in Macau.
The six-month long program is designed to enhance citizens' recognition of Macau's history and its tourism resources, improve the region's service level as well as strengthen its image as a tourism city.
Macau's tourism industry has been booming in recent years. The number of inbound tourists of the city increased from about 9 million in 2000 to 21 million in 2006. It is now not only necessary to increase the travel infrastructure and travel products, but also vital to enhance the citizens' understanding of the local tourism and advance the city's service level.
The program will feature diversified activities to spread travel information to citizens and tourists.
