Dalian mayor Xia Deren has told Xinhua that Dalian will build 20 new five-star hotels.
At present, there are six five-star hotel in Dalian. However, with the city's appraisal as one of the best travel cities in China as well as the entry of a number of international firms, the current hotels can't meet the increasing market demand.
Xia says that two of 20 hotels would be completed and opened this year and another 10 would see their completion next year. He said that modern service industry had become an important development focus for Dalian which has the Zhoushuizi International Airport, one of the few international airports in full use in China.

very pleased to see this developement in dalian, it make me wondering when the service business in dalian will become better, as of now the service at most banks and post offices is not that great, standing in line for an average of 40 minutes to do your bank business does not show a great deal of service, may be a bit more regulation would do wonders
