LOT Polish Airlines announced that it will launch a nonstop flight between Warsaw and Beijing on March 20, 2008 and it has already begun to accept reservations for the new line.
Piotr Siennicki, president and CEO of LOT, has told local media that LOT previously carried out direct passenger service from Warsaw to Beijing, but the service was later halted due to insufficient client resources. Siennicki says with the increase of travel between Poland and China, it is now the right time for them to resume the service. He expects that the new line would attract many tourists and business people and next year's Beijing Olympic Games will also serve as a good opportunity for them to obtain clients.
There will be four round-trip flights on the line each week. The flying will take about 9-10 hours. LOT plans to use Boeing 767 on the line at first and then change to Boeing 787 in autumn of next year.
