The Chinese Embassy in Mozambique says that China and Mozambique have signed an MOU in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, which has made Mozambique a travel destination for outbound Chinese tourist groups.
Tian Guangfeng, Chinese ambassador in Mozambique, and Fernando Sumbana Junior, director of the Mozambique Tourism Department, have signed the agreement. Tian said this witnessed great progress in the cooperation of the travel industry between these two countries, and this helps deepen the understanding and friendship between them. He expected the Mozambique government would provide more convenience for Chinese travelers.
According to the statistics of the World Tourism Organization, Mozambique's travel market last year increased by 37% compared with that of 2005, and the number of tourists to Mozambique increased by 7% year on year. Most of the tourists were from South Africa, Portugal, Germany and Swaziland.
