Taito Waradi, Minister for Commerce, Industry, Investment & Communication of Fiji, has said in Guangzhou that Fiji and China have signed a reciprocal travel agreement that allows Chinese travelers to receive landing visas in Fiji.

The new policy for visas took effect on September 1.

Located in the center of the Southwest Pacific, Fiji is made up of 332 islands and it is the transport hub of the South Pacific region. Its unique travel resources has made Fiji a paradise for travelers. In 2004, the country attracted overseas travel revenue of US$450 million. However, because of a lack of travel destination agreement with China, few Chinese citizens went to visit the country in the past.

In addition to signing the agreement, Taito Waradi has also expressed his wish of having some Chinese enterprises to invest and manage hotels in Fiji. He says by doing so, they will be able to provide the authentic food and lifestyle for Chinese tourists.

In order to promote the trade cooperation between Fiji and China, Fiji will soon set up a trade representative office in Guangzhou.
