According to prices on Ctrip.com, hotels in some popular tour city such as Sanya, Hangzhou, Guilin, and Xiamen will raise their rates during the upcoming Golden Week period.

But some cities like Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou will suffer from price drops because of an expected reduction in business. The price of five-star hotels in Shanghai will drop by an average of 15%, and that of four-star hotels will drop less than 10%.

Tang Xiaofeng, the director of the business department of Ctrip, said that prices of five-star hotel in some travel cities such as Guilin will rise about 25%, and four-star hotels will soar by about 50%.

But with Formula One racing coming after the National Holiday, the price of high-end hotels in Shanghai will return
to their original pricing, with some seeing higher rates.
