China Southern Airlines says it has acquired the exclusive use of Terminal One at Xianyang International Airport in Xi'an.
The deal marks the second all-China Southern airport terminal outside of the airline's worldwide home at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, as China Southern already has full flight operations at Terminal One at Beijing Capital International Airport.
Located about 30 kilometers from downtown Xi'an, the new Terminal One at Xi'an's Xianyang International Airport officially opened to the public on September 12. Passengers can now take China Southern flights and flights operated by the airline's subsidiary carriers exclusively from Terminal One.
As all China Southern Airlines' flights are moved to the new terminal, China Southern Airlines says airport officials expect the new terminal to significantly alleviate passenger congestion at the current Terminal Two.
