The Ritz-Carlton, SanyaThe Ritz-Carlton, Sanya has made a number of new appointments as it prepares for its opening at the end of this year.

Michel L. GogetHaving acquired a wealth of hospitality experience in seven countries over the past two decades, Michel L. Goget has been appointed to helm The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya as general manager. Goget began his career with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. in 1999 at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia, where he embarked on a 35-day General Manager Fast Track Training Program. In November that year, he was named general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Dearborn in Dearborn, Michigan and subsequently joined The Ritz-Carlton, Tyson's Corner in McLean, Virginia in the same capacity; a position he held prior to his current appointment. Before joining The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Goget held several general manager and senior executive positions for 10 years in Dolce International, Europe; Disneyland Paris; Marriott Corporation; InterContinental Hotels Group; Sheraton Hotels; Hotel Loews Monte Carlo/Fairmont; and Marco Beach Hotel and Villas in Florida.

Robert PetrovicHaving worked in four continents in the past 18 years, Robert Petrovic is the new hotel manager. In his new role, Petrovic will assist General Manager Michel Goget in the resort's overall operations when it opens this December. Petrovic joined The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. in 2003 as executive assistant manager for food and beverage at The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg in Germany. In 2006, Petrovic opened the 253-room Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Financial Street in the same capacity and was promoted to hotel manager in April this year. Petrovic was part of the pre-opening teams for The Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Moscow, Tokyo, Jakarta and Berlin. Of Serbian descent, Petrovic is fluent in German, Serbian, Croatian and Romanian.

Sherona LauSherona Lau has been appointed the resort's director of sales and marketing. Having been with The Peninsula Group's regional sales office since 1999 as assistant sales manager before being promoted to regional sales manager, Lau joined The Peninsula Bangkok in 2002 and played a key leadership role by heading up the sales and marketing department. Lau was the acting director of sales and marketing prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya. A Hong Kong national, Lau began her China stint in the Yinhe Dynasty Inter-Continental Hotel in Chengdu as a management trainee in sales and marketing. While in the U.S.A. and Switzerland, Lau gained experience in food and beverage and front desk operations. Armed with an Associated Degree in Hotel Management from the Domino Carlton Tivoli Hotel Management Career Center in Lucerne, Switzerland, Lau graduated Magna Cum Laude in Hospitality Management at the Florida International University. In addition, she also completed a Group Professional Development Program in Cornell University.

Christopher R. ClarkA 20-year hospitality professional who has worked in the company's Asian properties in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Bali, Indonesia, Christopher R. Clark arrives at The Ritz-Carlton, Sanya as executive assistant manager for rooms. Combining his expertise in hospitality and spa management, Clark founded the PT Clark Jaya Hospitality in 2005. The company specialized in concept development, strategic and tactical planning, needs analysis, customer service and spa training. Prior to that, Clark was executive assistant manager for rooms in the Ritz-Carlton, Bali Resort & Spa. While at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, Clark headed the rooms division and at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead in Atlanta, he was responsible for the housekeeping department as director of housekeeping. Clark also played an instrumental role as a task force member in the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas; The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh; and The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul.

Lenny LioWith 11 years of human resources experience under her belt, Lenny Lio has been appointed director of human resources. Lio joined The Ritz-Carlton, Bali Resort & Spa pre-opening team in July 1996 as human resources assistant and in November that year, opened the resort. Over the years, she was promoted to assistant human resources manager and assistant director of human resources before becoming director of human resources in 2002–a position she remained in until her recent relocation to Sanya. Lio previously worked as sales secretary and group coordinator in The Nikko Bali Resort & Spa and held trainee positions in the London Kensington Hilton and London Heathrow Hilton during her education in the International Hotel School on the Isle of Man in the British Isles, United Kingdom. Lio obtained an IHMES Diploma in Hospitality Management, British Technical Educational Course Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management and an American Hotel and Motel Association Diploma in Hospitality Management.
