Shenzhen Airlines and the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region signed a cooperation agreement to jointly start the Ningxia Airlines company.
The agreement says that the two parties will fully cooperate in passenger and freight services, as well as help the new airlines to expand its route network.
Chen Jianguo, secretary of the Party Committee of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, said that Ningxia will focus on developing its modern logistics industry and take advantage of its regional location to explore aviation transportation. The current Yinchuan Hedong Airport is the important transfer location connecting inland cities and Central Asia, Europe, and Middle East. Ningxia also has another two new airports as Guyuan Airport and Zhongwei Airport in the pipeline.
Shenzhen Airlines has opened the flight from Shenzhen to Yinchuan, via Xi'an, and will add several flights between Yinchuan and main domestic cities. Shenzhen Airlines has established several bases in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Zhengzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou and Nanning, with other bases in Qingdao, Kunming, Chongqing, and Xi'an under planning or construction.
The new joint venture Ningxia Airlines is expected to start operation in mid-2008.
