Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Singapore Airlines had reportedly planned to launch gambling operations to offer more entertainment options for passengers, but this plan has caused complaints from anti-gambling groups.

"Gambling Site In Air" is a special service provided by 888.com, one of the largest online gambling service providers in the world, and is designed to have passengers log into online gambling sites to play such gambling games as poker and conduct the transaction with their credit cards.

However, airline companies' offer of the service has been criticized by Gamcare, a Britain based charity which is engaged in providing guidance for gamblers. A spokesperson from the organization is cited by British Sunday Mirror as saying that the more lenient the rules, the more people will become addicted to gambling.

There is no word yet from the concerned airlines.

Sounds like a good idea.. especially for those 13+ hour flights where it's so boring that I'd rather watch paint dry. I enjoy gambling and it would be an added perk for the airlines.
