Air China will increase its global network with a new service in Asia linking the Beijing capital to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, on January 2, 2008, and will operate three times per week with Boeing 737 aircraft.

This Beijing-Pyongyang addition will bring Air China's international network to a total of 72 individual routes from 2008. The Pyongyang launch is the most recent in Air China's growing network. In the current quarter Air China initiated nonstop service on the Beijing-Sydney sector, increasing its Australia presence, as well as on the Beijing-Macao route, adding service to the booming Pearl River delta area that includes Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.

"We are excited to offer our customers this excellent new route for travel between China and North Korea," said Lan Zhang, vice president of Air China. "The new route between the two capital cities will benefit the cultural, educational, and technology ties between the two countries and will help connect North Korea to the world. The route will also make it more convenient for passengers from Europe, North America, and Japan to reach North Korea, whatever their need. Air China is glad to provide this service."

With the Pyongyang launch, passengers can reach 28 countries and 43 cities by choosing Air China's 72 international and regional routes across its strong global network. Air China also cooperates with more than twenty prestigious airlines around the world in order to meet passengers' travel needs and will soon be a member of the global Star Alliance.
