An opening ceremony for the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport's Phase 2 expansion project has been held.
Yang Yuanyuan, director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and major officials of Shaanxi provincial government attended the ceremony.
The RMB7.292 billion invested project is scheduled to be established by 2020. It will build the third 170,000-square-meter terminal building; the second 3,800-meter runway; and related support facilities. After expansion, the airport will reach 26 million passengers annually, and will become the fourth Chinese airport with independent parallel operation of instrument runways.
Yang Yuanyuan said in his speech that CAAC always insists on supporting the construction of regional infrastructure and expansion of flight networks in Western areas of China.
