China's Northeast Airlines has announced its expansion to nine aircraft and 22 routes within the next two years.
Its operations started on November 8, 2007, and Northeast Airlines currently owns one Airbus A319 aircraft and two EMB-145 aircraft provided by their shareholder Sichuan Airlines. According to its market expansion plan, the company will add two Airbus A319 aircraft and one EMB-145 aircraft by 2008, as well as another three Airbus A319/320 aircraft by 2009. By that time, Northeast Airlines says it will open more than 20 routes covering 28 cities in the northeast, southwest and northern areas of China.
Gong Degui, general manager of Northeast Airlines Company Limited, said that the company will focus on the regional and second-tier cities. They will make Shenyang the aviation hub and expand to medium-sized cities such as Harbin, Mudanjiang and Qiqihar.
Through training more flight personnel and reaching larger aircraft scale, Northeast Airlines wants to eventually open routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Kunming, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Haikou, and increase the scheduled flights frequency on its other routes.
