The opening ceremony for the Gansu Tianshui Airport has been held, and the airport is poised to offer services for both military and civilian aircraft.
Zhu Hong, vice secretary-general of Gansu Provincial People's Government; Yu Haiyan, secretary of Tianshui Municipal Committee of the CPC; and Zhang Guangzhi, mayor of Tianshui city, attended the ceremony.
On June 17, 2007, China West Airport Group signed a cooperation agreement for the Tianshui Airport project with Tianshui Municipal Government to expedite the construction of this airport and open civilian flights earlier than expected. Then the first charter flight from Xi'an to Tianshui arrived at Tianshui Airport in October 27, 2007, marking a new era for the business community in the area.
The civilian part of Tianshui Airport is positioning itself as a domestic regional airport. The project includes a new 2,158-square-meter Terminal Building, a 9,300-square-meter aircraft parking area, as well as some support facilities, which are scheduled to be opened by the second half of 2008.
The airport obtained a total of about RMB63.6 million in investment from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, Gansu Provincial People's Government, Tianshui Municipal Government and China West Airport Group.
