Another 26 hotels have reportedly joined the Hubei Tourism Association this year as they plan for competition with foreign invested hotels.
Chen Qingyin, vice president of the Hubei Tourism Association, has told local media that with the quick growth of the tourism industry in Hubei, the hospitality service system has been gradually improving and star-level hotels have reached more than 560 around the province. Since January 2008, foreign hotel brands will more easily enter the China market, according to WTO agreements, and international hotel brands such as Marriott are choosing Wuhan as a prime development location.
Facing great market stress, more local hotels in Hubei have thus formed an alliance to strive for better business opportunities. According to local media, among over 560 star hotels, there are 138 which are already members of this tourism association.
