Hecker, Fong Appointed To Lead Futian Shangri-La

Scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2008, the 40-storey Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen has made two top-level management appointments.
Gerhard Hecker has been appointed general manager of Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen. A German national, he is a veteran in the hospitality industry with over 30 years of experience. He has enjoyed a distinguished hospitality career in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Cairo, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. For the past 20 years, he has worked in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Helene Fong has been appointed director of marketing at the hotel. Fong, a Malaysian, has extensive hotel experience in mainland China including Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing. She will be responsible for the hotel's overall sales and marketing, reporting directly to Gerhard Hecker, the hotel's general manager. She has previously worked in Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore; Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai; The Kerry Centre Hotel, Beijing; and Traders Hotel, Beijing.
