Hong Kong Signs Civil Aviation Agreement With Japan

Hong Kong has signed an agreement with Japan concerning civil aviation arrangements. The agreement says that the transportation capacity between Hong Kong and all cities in Japan except for Tokyo will no longer be limited.
According to this agreement, Hong Kong's airlines are allowed to add services between Hong Kong and Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Sendai and Okinawa, and to open new routes between Hong Kong and Kagoshima, Okayama as well as the other cities in Japan.
Currently Hong Kong airlines operate 42 passenger flights a week between Hong Kong and Tokyo, plus 61 between Hong Kong and: Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Sendai, and Okinawa. Japanese airlines provide 28 passenger flights per week between Hong Kong and Tokyo, and 14 between Hong Kong and Osaka. Hong Kong airlines provide 12 cargo flights a week between Hong Kong and Tokyo, plus 21 between Hong Kong and Osaka, and Nagoya. Japanese airlines had 22 flights weekly from Hong Kong to Tokyo and 12 from Tokyo to Hong Kong.
Other airlines also provide a total of four cargo flights per week from Hong Kong to Osaka and Nagoya, as well as 18 from Osaka and Nagoya to Hong Kong.
In the next round of discussions, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is expected to negotiate with Japan for additional services between Hong Kong and Tokyo.
