Although Sweden had lots of rainy days last year which may seem to be unfavorable for its tourism industry, it also has hosted more international tourists than in the previous year. Of these, the number of Chinese tourists to Sweden exceeded Japanese tourists for the first time and China has become the largest Asian tourism resources country for Sweden.

According to published data in Sweden, in 2007 the number of days which foreign tourists stayed in Sweden has exceeded 11 million, 2.3% higher than 2006. The number of days which Chinese tourists stayed in the country was 11.39 million, 15% higher than 2006.

Because of the weather, tourist numbers from Denmark and Germany decreased while those from Norway, Switzerland, France, and Italy grew. The number of days which Norwegian tourists stayed in Sweden was 2.82 million.

Since 1991, the number of days a year that foreign tourists stayed in Sweden increased by 100%.
