Air Asia formally opened a new nonstop route from Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur to Hangzhou.

With five flights a week Air Asia is the first airline in the Southeast Asia region to provide a nonstop service flight to Hangzhou.

Air Asia said that they are very confident about this new route since it connects to Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, and Wuhan where there are many potential customers. The company also said that it intends to open nonstop flights to Tianjin or Chengdu as the next step.

Air Asia currently has 86 routes and its no-frills service has obtained wide recognition in China.
