The British Embassy in China says that it will decrease the visa fees charged in China for tour groups from ₤63 to ₤44 for a three-month trial period starting March 3.

Based on the current exchange rate, the visa fees will be adjusted from RMB980 to RMB660. China is the first pilot country for which Britain is decreasing tour visa fees. The country will assess the results for this three month period and then decide how to proceed.

With the number of Chinese tourists to the UK maintaining a sustainable level of growth, the UK wishes to attract as many Chinese travelers as possible and become one of the most popular tourism destinations for China. The British Embassy also says that it will provide more convenient procedures for legal visitors from China and that a new tour group visa is under development.
