Shanghai Airlines has announced that five of its holding or share participation companies have been merged to form a large aviation logistics group.

The new group will focus on aviation cargo transportation and will develop an integrated operating mode to offer a comprehensive supply chain management capability. It is an independent legal entity with Shanghai Airlines Company Limited as the core company, and comprises China United Airlines, Shanghai Airlines Cargo International Company Limited, Shanghai Airlines International Cargo Transportation Services Company Limited, Shanghai Crane Transportation Company Limited, and Dahang International Transportation Company Limited. Each company will be responsible for its own business operations but the group members will work together. The group also plans to recruit new partners from the same industry.

After the completion of the merger, this new group will own a total of 70 passenger and cargo aircraft and operate 20 international and regional routes, as well as over 170 domestic routes covering more than 60 large and medium cities around China.
