Domestic Tourism Industry Suffers Great Losses From Snow

The disasters caused by rain, snow and frost which lasted from the middle of January to the first ten days of February resulted in severe loss of domestic tourism revenues, including about RMB6.97 billion in direct economic losses.
According to preliminary statistics, as of February 9, 824 scenic spots, 5,231 buildings, 15,000 tourism public service facilities, and 2,542 kilometers of tourism roads in 19 areas around China suffered damage to different degrees. Of these, 1,662 scenery spots were temporarily closed. Much green vegetation and ancient trees were damaged, and some rare trees were broken. Some amusement facilities, boats and yachts can not work normally, and parking lots, tourist paths and signs were badly damaged. This resulted in a total of RMB6.97 billion of direct economic losses in China.
The China National Tourism Administration has reminded the tourism industry that it must be aware of the difficulties of reconstruction and renewal work after disasters.
