The Yangzhou Tourism Bureau has officially unveiled renewal results of star-grade hotels in Yangzhou for 2007, and of the hotels reviewed 44 passed renewal, six lost their qualifications, and four had the renewal deferred.
According to the new regulations for star-grade hotels' classification and assessment, star-grade hotels can only keep their qualifications for five years before renewal. After renewal this time, 44 hotels including Xiyuan Hotel Yangzhou and Yangzhou New Century Hotel have passed renewal.
Six hotels at the two-star level had their qualifications revoked. They are: the Yangzhou Tongfeng Hotel; the Yonghai Hotel; the Yuemingxuan Hotel; the Baoying Hotel; the Gaoyou Qingu Mansion; and the Yangzhou Dongyuan Hotel.
Four hotels have the renewal deferred including three hotels at the three-star level, the Cuiyuan City Hotel, the Shangri-La Hotel in Gaoyou, and the Gaoyou Hawaii Club; as well as the two-star Honghegu Hotel. And they are requested to rectify problems within a specified time.
The major reasons for these ten hotels having their renewal revoked or deferred are poor management, declining service levels, and property rights transactions.
