Fujian Tourism Revenue Exceeds RMB100 Billion For 2007

According to the Fujian Tourism Bureau, Fujian achieved more than RMB100 billion in tourism revenue in 2007, and welcomed more than one million international tourists.

Huang Xiaoyan, director of Fujian Tourism Bureau, said that Fujian hosted 83,099,000 tourists with a year-on-year growth rate of 18.5% in 2007; of these the number of foreign tourists increased by 27.6% to 1,008,000.

In 2007, Fujian's tourism revenues totaled RMB100.3 billion with a growth rate of 23.7%, accounting for 11.1% of the GDP of the province. Of this, foreign exchange revenue increased by 47.5% to US$2.17 billion; and domestic tourism revenue reached RMB83.82 billion, 20.9% higher than previous year.

Fujian Tourism Bureau has established as a goal for 2008 that the province is expected to welcome 3 million inbound tourists and 92 million domestic tourists to reach a total of RMB115 billion in tourism revenue comprising US$2.5 billion foreign exchange revenue and RMB97 billion domestic tourism revenue.
